With the rubber ball, water is sucked up into the hose for the cleaning process without the need for submerging the entire thing in the tank. The squeeze feature makes it easy for gravity to take over, emptying into the bucket. According to customer reviews, it does not work well for small tanks and can be too large. It is an excellent product for tanks 30 gallons and larger, and the medium size works fine for 20-gallon tanks. The kit can also be used for saltwater set-ups.
