There are four adjustable shelves, but only two shelves can be adjusted, and removing the top shelf will result in visible screws. The bookcase is very stable and not top-heavy, but it is recommended to secure it to the wall if children might use it as a ladder. The back of the bookcase looks the same as the front, although the shelves in front have a decorative beveled edge. However, some customers have experienced issues with damaged pieces, mismarked or missing parts, and difficult assembly.
