    Answer: Kershaw Blems are marked with XXXX (4 x's) on the blade. As for whether it is damascus or not, it is. Alabama Damascus to be exact. Look into how damascus is made and then look into how it is finished. Also the reason the layers are getting lighter is from wear, it's just a surface treatment.
